Juvenile charged in August crash
The juvenile driver in an August one-vehicle crash in Pittsfield Township that seriously injured two passengers has been charged with DUI.
Police responded to a crash on Andrews Run Road on the evening of Aug. 10. The driver had lost control of the vehicle on a left-hand curve, the vehicle left the road, struck an embankment, and rolled. One male juvenile passenger and one female juvenile passenger in the back seat were flown by emergency helicopter to UPMC-Hamot for treatment of serious injuries. The driver and a male juvenile front-seat passenger were transported to Warren General Hospital for treatment.
The driver, 17, of Sugar Grove, who police did not identify because he is a minor, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He was charged as a juvenile with DUI: aggravated assault while DUI; DUI: minor — BAC 0.02 or higher; reckless driving; and careless driving — serious bodily injury.
