Warren man charged with assault over Gameboy

A Warren man faces felony assault charges after an incident in which he allegedly attacked a psychiatric aide over a confrontation about a Gameboy.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Seth M. Hunsberger, 24, of Warren, was confronted by a psychiatric aide at the Warren State Hospital on July 26 of this year, at around 2:45 p.m., about being in possession of a Gameboy system “at a time in which he was not allowed.”

When confronted by the aide, Hunsberger attempted to hide the Gameboy in the restroom on the third floor of the intensive male unit. When the aide found the Gameboy and again attempted to speak with Hunsberger about the situation, police said Hunsberger “grabbed him by the throat and began choking him and slamming him into nearby walls and objects.”

The aide reported that he began to feel lightheaded and lose consciousness, and said, “the struggle continued on to the floor at which point Hunsberger bit” the aide in the chest before staff intervened.

Police said the aide had visible signs of injury to his throat, an abrasion to his face, and a “definitive bite mark on his chest.”

The aide was taken to Warren General Hospital for evaluation and ordered to return the following day “for further evaluation of his throat for possible damage to his vocal cords.”

Statements from Warren State Hospital staff who saw the incident corroborated the aide’s story, police said.

According to online court documents, Hunsberger was awaiting a preliminary hearing as of Thursday. He faces one felony charge of aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanor and summary counts of simple assault and harassment, respectively.
