State Police investigating death along Route 666; nature of case is unknown

A man was found dead in this car along Route 666 in Sheffield Township on Wednesday.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a death in southeastern Warren County.

The body of a man was found in a car at a pull-off area on Route 666 about one mile from the intersection with Route 948 in Sheffield Township.

The car was in the pull-off off of the southbound lane facing south.

Police did not say how long the vehicle had been there.

State police from Warren and Erie counties, a state police forensic services team, Warren County Coroner Jerry Borden, and officials from the Warren County District Attorney’s office, including District Attorney Rob Greene, were at the scene for several hours Wednesday.

The forensic services team went over the area behind and around the car for hours before other officials approached.

Officials have made no official statement as to the nature of the case and have not released the identity of the deceased.

There is an autopsy scheduled for Thursday, Borden said.
