Hundreds file for positions in city, boroughs, townships

There are hundreds of names that will appear on primary election ballots in Warren County’s city, boroughs, and townships this May.

On Tuesday, candidates interested in positions as mayor, on city and borough council, as township supervisor, auditor, tax collector, judge of elections, inspector of elections, and constable had filed the necessary paperwork.

In the City of Warren: Rep. Maurice Cashman and Dem. Ruby Wiles are running for mayor; Rep. James Zavinski Sr., Rep. John Lewis, Dem. Paul Giannini, and Dem. Scott Baxter are running for three seats on City Council.

There are two Republican candidates for Bear Lake Borough mayor: Troy Snow and Thomas Dunn; and two Republican candidates for four seats on Borough Council: Nick Kucnick and Wanda Smith.

Republican Thomas Eaton is the only filed candidate for Mayor of Clarendon Borough. Republicans Jason Lyon and Paul Pascuzzi are running for two seats on Borough Council.

In Sugar Grove Borough, there is no candidate for mayor; five candidates — Dem. Julie Greenman, and Republicans Kevin McIntyre, David Bauer, Kevin Nicklas, and Linda Strand — for four four-year council seats; and one candidate — Rep. Alexander Lopresti — for a two-year council seat.

Rep. Robert Williams Sr. is the only candidate for mayor of Tidioute Borough. There are three candidates — Rep. Robert Fath, Rep. Henry Brown, and Dem. Jonathan Brown — for four four-year seats on council; and no candidate for the one open two-year seat.

There is one filed candidate — Dem. Scott Nelson — for mayor of Youngsville Borough; and three candidates — Rep. Todd Lake, Rep. Eric Mineweaser, and Rep. Nicole Cowan — for four four-year seats on council.

Every township has one six-year supervisor seat open. Three have one more seat open.

Rep. Richard Lauger has filed for supervisor in Brokenstraw; Rep. Mary Louise Wager in Cherry Grove; Daniel Wood and Raymond Driscoll, both Republicans, in Columbus; Rep. Jeffrey Zariczny in Conewango; Rep. Duane Gibson for one six-year seat and Rep. Michael Silva for a four-year seat in Deerfield; Rep. Albert Paden in Eldred; Rep. Kelly Vancise in Elk; Rep. Kim Spicer and Rep. Edward Beardsley for one seat in Farmington; Rep. Norman Whiteley in Freehold; Rep. Joseph Scully for a six-year seat and Rep. Rusty Zigler for a two-year seat in Glade; Rep. Charles Swartz in Limestone with no candidate for a two-year seat; Dem. Marcia Madigan in Mead; Dem. Linda Farnsworth and Rep. Douglas Smith for one seat in Pine Grove; no candidate in Pittsfield; Rep. Arden Knapp in Pleasant; no candidate in Sheffield; Dem. John Hoden in Southwest; no candidate in Spring Creek; Rep. Carl Black in Sugar Grove; Rep. William Caputo in Triumph; and Dem. Robert Burris in Watson.
