Youngsville Life

Free snack outreach

program

There are now two sites for Youngsville Library’s Free Summer Snack Program for kids ages 18 and younger.

Kids can get a free snack at the Youngsville Public Library Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Kids can also receive a free snack at the YMCA Youngsville Branch (located at Island Park) Mondays through Thursdays during the Y’s afternoon hours.

The federally-funded snack program hosted by the Youngsville Public Library will continue now through Tuesday, August 27. You do not need to pre-register to receive a snack at either location.

“We are really excited that Dana from YMCA Youngsville Branch was so receptive to having the Youngsville Branch as an outreach site for this important snack program,” said Library Director Kristy Wallace. “The Youngsville Y Branch is serving free lunches to kids every Monday through Friday from noon to 12:30 p.m. from July 8th until August 16th. The hope is that kids in the area will come to the Youngsville Y during the day, enjoy a free lunch, participate in the free playground equipment lending program until 1 p.m., then come back later when the Youngsville Y reopens (from 3 to 7 p.m.) to play some more and enjoy a free snack sponsored by our library. It’s just another way for like-minded community organizations to work together for the betterment of the kids in our area.”

The free snack program does not require registration; just stop by either site.

If you are interested in participating in the free lunch program at the Youngsville Y, call (814) 802-1618 to register. Kids ages 10+ can register (for free) to borrow games and playground equipment at the Youngsville Y during business hours as part of their Playground Equipment Lending Program. Kids 9 and under may borrow equipment if accompanied by an adult.

YMCA Youngsville Branch hours are Monday to Friday, 5 to 7 a.m., 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 3 to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Youngsville Library hours are Monday and Tuesday from noon to 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Friday from noon to 5 p.m.
