Senior Center Menu

Thursday, Nov.  10 will be Sloppy Joe sandwiches, baked potato soup with crackers, wheat roll, pineapple tidbits.

Monday, Nov. 14 will be baked Swiss steak with mushroom gravy, creamed potatoes, winter vegetable medley, wheat bread, butterscotch pudding.

Tuesday, Nov. 15 will be breakfast for lunch with  an egg omelet with cheese, sausage, potatoes, bead and jelly and navel orange.

Thursday, Nov. 17 will be the Thanksgiving dinner of roast turkey with stuffing and gravy, whipped potatoes, carrots, dinner roll, cranberry sauce, pumpkin dessert.

Monday, Nov. 21 will be  pepper steak with peppers, onions and gravy, parsley noodles, baby carrots, wheat bread, applesauce.

Tuesday, Nov. 22 will be baked crab cake, cheesy noodles with broccoli, Italian vegetable medley, wheat bread, sliced peaches.

Thursday, Nov. 24 the center will be closed for Thanksgiving.

Monday, Nov. 28 will be Italian meatball hoagie with sauce and cheese and hoagie bun, seasoned new potatoes, mixed bean medley, and tapioca pudding.

Tuesday, Nov. 29 will be pork loin with gravy, scalloped potatoes, sweet peas and onions, dinner roll and fresh seasonal fruit.

Musician Needed

A pianist or organist is needed at the Tidioute Presbyterian Church for Sunday morning worship services at 11 a.m.

This is a paid position and anyone who is interested should send a letter of interest to the Tidioute Presbyterian Church,  P. O. Box 144, Tidioute, PA  16351.

American Legion

Auxiliary

Members of the American Legion Auxiliary of Elzie E. Lynch Post 0334 will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the Post building on Route 62, just south of the Tidioute Bridge.

Dinner

A Past Commanders Dinner for VFW Post 8803 will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10

Sign-up sheet is at the bar.  The bar will be open for members and their guests from noon to 4 p.m.  and closed for dinner.

American Legion

Members of the Elzie E. Lynch American Legion Post 0334 will meet on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. for their regular November meeting.

All members are urged to attend.

Sons of American

Legion

Sons of the American Legion Post 0334 will meet on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Post located on Route 62 south of the Tidioute Bridge.

Veterans Day Services

VFW Post 8803 will hold Veterans Day Services at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11.

This is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.

Tying The Greens

Tying the  Greens  will be done on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. at the borough garage.

Volunteers are needed to help with this project, all age groups are invited to come and help.

Decorating the Town

The Holiday Lighting Committee members will be gathering at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 in the Picture Show Park  to start the decorating of the community.

Volunteers are needed to help.

This is the 69th year for Tying the Greens and decorating the town. Let’s keep this beautiful tradition going.

TAHDC, Inc.

Members of the Tidioute Area Health and Dental Center, Inc. will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Health and Dental Center to decorate the areas of the building and  “Tidioute” sign for the holidays.

Bingo Bus Trip

The Bingo Bus will leave Saturday, Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. to head to Salamanca to Seneca Gaming and Entertaining for a day of Bingo.

Turkey Party

Watson Grange will be hosting a Turkey Party at the Grange hall located on Route 337.

Doors open at  6 p.m.  and the games begin at 7 p.m.

Sidewalk Salt for Sale

Tidioute Community Charter School fundraisers are taking orders for Simple Safe Sidewalk Salt. This is environmentally formulated ice melt.  Safe for plants and animals when used as directed.

Cost is $ 15 for a 50-pound bag of ice melt.

Orders are due on Monday, Nov. 14.

Salt delivery will be on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Money and orders can be turned into the school office.

This fundraiser benefits student field trips at TCCS.

TCCS Apparel

Orders will be taken till Nov.18 for the Tidioute Community Charter School apparel.

See the order forms at tidioutecharter.com.   Samples will be available in the school office for sizing.

Orders will be delivered in time for Christmas.

Prom Committee

Fundraiser

Tidioute Prom Committee is selling pies and apple dumplings from Jane’s Stromboli for Christmas.

Orders will be delivered on Dec. 20. The orders are due by Dec. 9.

Need Ramps/Steps

Residents  of Tidioute needing ramps or steps built can contact Carman Fedele at 814-730-9377 of the Tidioute Lions Club for assistance.

Members of the Tidioute Lions Club have been busy building new steps and ramps for those in need in our community, just one the many things that the Lions Club does for the community.

Troop Boxes

Tidioute VFW Auxiliary Post 8803 will be sending Troop Boxes to  our military service personnel serving outside of the USA for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If you know someone who would enjoy a Troop Box of goodies especially at this time of year, send their addresses to Doris Svitek, P. O.  Box 105, Tidioute, PA 16351, or call her at 484-7218.

New Banners

Tidioute Borough is still accepting monetary donations for the new banners that will be hung on the poles along Main Street and Buckingham Street in the spring to replace the older blue and green ones.

Cost of a new banner is $35 each and donations can be dropped off at the borough office or mailed to them at 129 Main St., Tidioute, PA 16351.  You can also use the drop box, but do not put cash in the box and place your check in an envelope marked for  new banners.

These banners can be purchased “In Memory” of or “In Honor” of a family member or friend, or for your organization.

Buttons with the new banner art work are on sale also and  are only $3 each; they are available at the borough office or from Linda Scott.

Trap Team Raffle

Tidioute Community Charter School Trap Team is holding a raffle for a Remington Model 700 CDL 300 Winchester Mag with black walnut stock as a first-place prize and there is an authentic “Tidioute” Knife made by Great Eastern Cutlery for a second-place prize.

Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10 and will be on sale at the firehall prior to the drawing as well as on sale at Tidioute Community Charter School.

The drawing will be on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Bear Check Station at Tidioute Firehall.

Thanksgiving Day  Dinner

The Chapel at Tidioute Creek and Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department invite you to a Thanksgiving Day Dinner on  Thursday, Nov. 24 from 1 p.m.  to 4 p.m. at the Tidioute Firehall.

Everyone is welcome.

Christmas in Tidioute

Christmas In Tidioute will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Several local merchants will be participating. Come and join the town for a day of fun and festivities.

Experience Christmas in the Allegheny Mountains, starting with a craft show at Buccardo’s in the Banquet Room from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a craft Show at the firehall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tidioute Library Story Time at 1:45 then pictures with Santa from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Hayrides will be conducted through the day, Christmas Carolers, local merchants for  shopping, local restaurants for dining, ending with the Lighting of the Bridge and a Community Bon Fire in town at dusk.

Shoe Drive

Once again Julie Benner is collecting used shoes for the Chosen Ministries Shoe Drive.  Shoes can be dropped off at the Boondocks  during the Christmas in the Boondocks on Saturday, Nov. 19 between 10 a.m. to  5 p.m.

Christmas Cash

American Legion Auxiliary, Post 0334 is holding a Christmas Cash Raffle with the drawing to be held on Dec. 7.

Tickets are $5 each.  Prizes are $500 for first place;  $250 for second place and $100 for third place.

Winner need not be present to win.

Crocheted Bed Coverlet

St. John Women’s Guild members are raffling off a Queen Sized  Hand Crocheted Bed Coverlet – cream colored for first prize and there is a $50 cash prize as a second-place prize.

Tickets are $1 each and the drawing is set for Dec.18 in time for Christmas.

Winner need not be present to win.  Benefits St John Women’s Guild.

Gun Raffle

Servicemen’s Home Corporation of Tidioute is having a gun raffle for a TIKKA T3 308 Cal. with scope mounts and soft gun case.

Tickets are $2 each and the drawing is set for Dec.  19.

Annual VFW Auxiliary Breakfast

VFW Auxiliary of VFW Post 8803 will have  its annual Christmas Breakfast on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 9:30 a.m. at the Tippy Canoe.

There is a sign-up at the bar.

A $5 refundable deposit is required and the cutoff date to sign up is Dec. 5.

Anyone who would like to participate in a gift exchange can do so by bringing a $10 gift.  Participation in the gift exchange is optional.

Scarecrow Competition

Tidioute Community Charter School PTO held a community Scarecrow competition on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

They were happy with the turnout and hope to do it again next year.

Winners included: “The People’s Choice” – Medusa by the Mythology Class; the “Prettiest” by Marlee Nuttall;  the “Biggest” by Kemper Phillips; the “Most Traditional”  The Century 21 after-school program; the “Silliest” – The Rocker by Christian Gillenwater; and the “Most Unique”  by Marcus Delill.
