Nyla Luvison Memorial 5K Race

The 15th Annual Nyla Luvison Memorial 5K race will be held Saturday, July 8. Race start time is 9:30 a.m. The cost to register on race day will be $20. Registration will begin at the Sugar Grove Fire Hall at 8 a.m. and continue until 9:15 a.m. Performance T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 150 entrants. The age divisions will be 14-and-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. Running awards will be given to the first male and female overall and the top three male and female finishers in each age group.

After the 5K, there will be a free children’s fun run for the littlest future runners. All proceeds from the event will be equally divided between the EMHS Cross Country Boosters and the Warren Cancer Care Center at Warren General Hospital.

A BBQ chicken dinner will be available at the Sugar Grove Fire Hall starting at 10:30 a.m. on race day. The cost is $8 per meal.

Special Teacher Awards

Eisenhower Pride would like to announce the 2016-2017 recipients of the Standard of Excellence Award. The following staff of Eisenhower K-12 has gone above and beyond in their care for our students. Their extra time and attention to details have not gone unnoticed. While many of the staff has exceeded our expectations the following seven have received the award for this school year — Mrs. McElhaney, Miss Livingston, Miss Howe, Mrs. Swanson, Mrs. Crosby, Mrs. Backhus and Mr. Smith.

A gift certificate to Cable Hollow Golf Course and Fireside Grill has been awarded to the recipients.

Vacation Bible School

The Sugar Grove Mission Covenant Church will hold Vacation Bible School from Sunday, July 9, to Thursday, July 13. All kids pre-school age to 5th grade are invited to attend. Activities begin each evening at 6:15 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. The church is located at the corner of Jackson Run and Matthew’s Run roads. Call the church to pre-register at (814) 489-3044.

Summer Day Camp

The Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church Summer Day Camp has begun with loads of summer activities, field trips, and daily fun. For information on registering your child for the program, contact the Summer Day Camp office at 489-3105.

Library Summer Fun

The Sugar Grove free library will be holding a summer reading program for all ages starting June 28 and running through August 2.

Story hour at the library will continue to be held every Wednesday during the summer from 10 to 11 a.m.with snack program at the same time.

The July Family Movie Night is scheduled for July 12. Pizza and drinks will be provided.
