Journey To The Cross

On Good Friday, April 14, the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church , located at the triangle of Race Street and Jamestown Street, will have the unique “Journey to the Cross”. A thought provoking walk through the days just before, during, and after the crucifiction. Go at your own pace, reflecting on the reminders and short readings along the way. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. and you may visit anytime until 5:30 p.m.

Good Friday Service

The Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church in Chandlers Valley on Jackson Run Road is hosting a Good Friday service on April 14th at 3 p.m. open to everyone.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Sugar Grove American Legion Post #758 will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at the Post Home on Saturday, April 15, starting at 10 a.m. This event is for kids age 12 and under. Come on out and enjoy the fun day.

Easter Sunrise Service

The Sugar Grove Community will be holding a Community Easter Sunrise Service at the United Methodist Church starting at 7 a.m. The church is located at the triangle of Race Street and Jamestown Street in the center of Sugar Grove. All the local area churches will be taking part and a light breakfast will be served after the service.

Fishing Contest

On Saturday April 15th a Wonderkids Fishing Contest is being sponsored by Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church as this is First Day of Trout Season. The event will take place by the dam in Chandlers Valley from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The cost is a donation. There will be 4 different age groups, 7 & under, 8-10, 11-13, 14-16. Registration forms are available from Pastor Mark Hurst a the Lander United Methodist Church or you can pick one up the morning of the contest. There will also be coffee and some refreshments during the contest, provided by church. Book Club

The Sugar Grove Free Library Book Club will be meeting on April 24th at 6:30 p.m. at the Library. It was suggested that for the April Meeting each person bring one or more of our favorite books from our childhood or young adulthood along with a favorite snack from childhood. Join us and feel young again with our favorites from childhood.

Pancake Breakfast

There will be a Pancake Breakfast on April 22nd from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Lottsville United Methodist Church. There will be delicious sausage, fresh maple syrup, pancakes and fruit pies.

Story Hour Returns

The Sugar Grove Free Library will be having their story hour program every Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The program is open to all ages. Anyone who would like to come and explore the joy of reading is welcome.

Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry

The Sugar Grove Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry Distribution will be happening on Saturday, April 22nd at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church on Jamestown Street. The doors open at 8:00 a.m. For more information, please contact the church office at 489-3105.

Ball Field Help

Thank You to everyone who came out to the Sugar Grove Ball Fields on Sunday, April 9th to help ready the fields for the upcoming season. Volunteers of all ages helped and the fields are looking great. There will be another work day on April 23rd. This is not only for parents who have children playing ball, but for anyone in the community. Please bring your shovels and feel free to contact Julie Morrison if you have any questions. The fields are owned by the Sugar Grove borough so as a community we will have the best fields in play once our project is completed.

Spring Break

Just a reminder the Eisenhower Elementary School and Eisenhower Middle High School will be off for Spring Break on Friday, April 14, and Monday, April 17. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 18.
