June Book Club

The Sugar Grove Free Library next book club meeting is scheduled for June 27. The book for June is “Lone Wolf” by Jodi Picoult.

Nyla Luvison

5K Run/Walk

The 14th Annual Nyla Luvison 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, July 9 at 9:30 a.m.

The starting point for the race will be the Sugar Grove Fire Hall on School Street. Runners note this year’s start time is 9:30 a.m.

The cost is $20 if registering anytime after June 22. Registration will be held from 8 to 9:15 a.m. at the Sugar Grove Fire Hall. The age divisions for the race will be 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-65, and 66 plus.

T-Shirts are guaranteed to first 150 entrants. Awards will be given for the first male and female overall, top three male and female finishers in each age group. The children’s Fun Run for all the little ones is free and will be held at the conclusion of the 5K. All little participants get something for their efforts.

Proceeds from the event are equally divided between the Cancer Care Center at Warren General Hospital and the Eisenhower High School Cross Country teams. A BBQ Chicken Dinner will be available at the fire hall on race day. A race entry form can be found at the webpage.

Sale Days

The community will once again be holding its Annual Sugar Grove Sale Days event on Saturday, July 30. If you would like to rent a spot for your sale you can do so at the United Methodist Church parking lot or the Sugar Grove Fire Hall .

Food Distribution

Second Harvest Food Pantry held its Mobile Food Pantry at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church on Saturday, June 19. Over 130 families were served with over 12,000 pounds of food in just three hours. Thank you to all the volunteers that make this happen every six weeks.

Congratulations to

EMHS Graduates

Tonight is the Eisenhower High School Graduation ceremony for the Class of 2016. Congratulations to all our graduates and best of luck in the future. The Eisenhower High School also held a Baccalaureate Service on Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. and their Awards Scholarship Ceremony on Wednesday, June 8. A complete list of graduates and scholarship winners will be in the Community News next week.

EES Graduation

Eisenhower Elementary School held its 5th Grade Graduation Ceremony on Monday, June 6. Congratulations to all our EES fifth graders who will be moving up to the Eisenhower Middle Senior High School in the 2016-17 school year.

Barnyard Classic

Picnic Dinner Benefit

The Chandlers Valley Community Center will be holding a picnic dinner to benefit its roof fund on Wednesday, June 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost will just be a donation to the fund. Come on out and enjoy a good picnic with the community.
