Cruise In Tonight

The 21st Annual Sugar Grove Cruise In will be held tonight, Friday, May 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. Classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles will be displayed in the town from the Sugar Grove Fire Hall, School Street, and former Sugar Grove Elementary School area. The event takes place rain or shine.

There will be food vendors, fun, prizes and more so come on down.

All proceeds will benefit the local Sugar Grove Food Pantry.

Grocery Raffle

The Eisenhower Bandtastic Boosters are selling raffle tickets for a “Grocery Raffle”. There is a total of eight prizes that will be raffled off including two,separate 40 lb. beef/100 lb. fresh pork packages, a supply of groceries, tickets to the Erie Seawolves, Dipson movie passes and various gift cards.

Ticket prices are 1 ticket for $2 or 3 tickets for $5. To purchase tickets, see any Eisenhower band member, or look for our booths at the Sugar Grove Car Show on May 27 and the Russell Fire Company Chicken Barbecue on May 28. The prize winners will be selected Saturday, May 28, after the chicken BBQ. You need not be present to win.

Money collected from the raffle will benefit the Eisenhower Instrumental Music Program.

Memorial Day Event

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 the Sugar Grove Community is invited to come together to honor our service men and women. AMVETS Post 50 and American Legion Post 758 will hold this joint service in the Sugar Grove Town Park beginning at 11 a.m.

Immediately following the Memorial Day service will be the Annual AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary “Ducks for Bucks” race being held on the Main Street AMVETS Memorial Bridge. AMVETS Post 50 will also be sponsoring a chicken BBQ for $8 with fixings included following the Memorial Day ceremony. All proceeds from the dinner will benefit veterans projects.

EMHS Senior Concert

The Eisenhower High School will present its Senior High Choir Concert under the direction of Denise Pearson on Thursday, June 2 in the EMHS Auditorium starting at 7 p.m.

May Book Club

The Sugar Grove Free Library next book club meeting is scheduled for June 27. The book for June is “Lone Wolf” by Jodi Picoult. Check with the library for copies in upcoming days.

Barnyard Classic

Sign up now for the Eisenhower Barnyard Classic Basketball 3 on 3 tournament. The event will be happening Saturday, June 25 on 10 permanent outdoor courts.

Summer Day Camp

Registration is now open for the State Certified Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church Summer Day Camp held at 210 Jamestown Street, Sugar Grove. The facility is open Monday through Friday, 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 13, and running through Friday, Aug. 26. Assistance to defray the daily fees of the Summer Day Camp Program is available through the Subsidized Child Day Care Program of Pennsylvania and is now available from New York. For more information on the Summer Day Camp Program or on the subsidization programs, call the church office at (489-3105.

80th Anniversary

The Sugar Grove Free Library will hold an 80th Anniversary Party on Saturday, May 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library is located at 22 Harmon St. just behind the post office. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the historical pictures of our old library which was located in what is now the Sugar Grove Medical Center and the building of our current library donated by the Howard Curtis Family. Everything will be from the 30’s honoring the establishment of our library on May 12, 1936. There will be dance demonstrations from the 1930’s, musical and vocal performances, displays of popular 1930’s pastimes, popular books, fashion and medical practices.

EMHS Concert

The Eisenhower Middle High School Middle Level Chorus Concert will be held Thursday, May 19 in the EMHS auditorium starting at 7 p.m. The concert will feature Sixth-Grade Chorus, Seventh- and Eighth-Grade Chorus, and Dreamers and Reflections.

The public is invited to attend this special event.

CVCC Chicken

Biscuit Dinner

The Chandlers Valley Community Center will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner on Wednesday, May 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. The proceeds will benefit the CVCC new roof project. The center is located at 9259 Jackson Run Road in Chandlers Valley. All in the surrounding community are invited to come out and support this worth project.

May Book Club

The Sugar Grove Free Library has chosen its book selection for the month of May and it is “The 19th Wife” by David Ebershoff. The story is set in 1875 and is intriguing. Pick up a copy today and join the book club as it will be discussed at the monthly meeting on Monday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the library.

Chicken BBQ

There will be a Chicken BBQ on May 22 at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church, 210 Jamestown St., from 1 p.m. until food supplies are gone. The benefit is to raise funds for a youth upcoming Aug. 6 music festival with numerous bands and activities.
