Benefit

The Sugar Grove Fire Hall will be the site of the Melissa Courtney Memorial Scholarship Benefit on April 30 from 4:30 to 9 p.m.

The band “The Untouchables” will be providing music at 6 p.m. There will be a pie auction, choice auction, 50/50 tickets. Dinner will include scalloped potatoes, meatballs, Italian sausage, baked beans, chicken alfredo, salad and rolls. The cost donation will be $15 per person or $25 per couple. Pre-sale tickets are available for $20 per couple.

The Sugar Grove Free Library will be holding its 7th Annual 5K Run/Walk on April 30. Race time will be at 10 a.m. Registration will begin at the library at 9 a.m. This event is open to all ages. Registration forms are available at the library or on the library’s website at sgfreelibrary.org.

The cost for the 5K is $20.

Grocery Raffle

The Eisenhower Bandtastic Boosters are currently selling raffle tickets for a “Grocery Raffle”. There is a total of eight prizes that will be raffled off including two, separate 40 lb. beef/100 lb. fresh pork packages, a supply of groceries, tickets to the Erie Seawolves, Dipson movie passes and various gift cards.

Ticket prices are 1 ticket for $2 or 3 tickets for $5. To purchase tickets, see any Eisenhower band member, or look for our booths at the Sugar Grove Car Show on May 27 and the Russell Fire Department’s chicken barbecue on May 28. The prize winners will be selected Saturday, May 28 after the chicken BBQ. You need not be present to win.

Money collected from the raffle will benefit the Eisenhower Instrumental Music Program.

Barnyard Classic

Sign up now for the Eisenhower Barnyard Classic Basketball 3 on 3 tournament. The event this year will be happening Saturday, June 25 on 10 permanent outdoor courts. For more information or to register your team go to www.barnyardclassic.com.

Cruise In

The 21st Annual Sugar Grove Cruise In will be held Friday, May 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. The event happens rain or shine. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer for this event, become a sponsor, or have any questions, contact 489-3105. All proceeds will benefit the local Sugar Grove Food Pantry.

Clean Up Day

Sugar Grove Borough will be holding its biennial Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot by the post office. This clean-up is for Sugar Grove Borough residents only.

The cost will be $5 per load. Each load must be unloaded by the resident. Remember, no batteries, yard debris or wet paint is allowed. There will be a separate collection of electronics and tires including printers, computers, and small kitchen appliances, etc. No televisions or PC monitors will be allowed. There is a $3 fee per tire (tires from passenger and small trucks only).

Pancake Breakfast

The Annual First Day of Fishing Pancake Breakfast will be held at the Lottsville United Methodist Church on April 16 from 7 to 11 a.m. In addition to the pancakes with fresh maple syrup there will be pies, scrambled eggs, sausage, and juice. The cost is a donation.

Donnell Family Benefit

Come to a benefit spaghetti dinner for the Donnell family at the Sugar Grove Fire Hall. The benefit is Saturday, April 16. Dinner will begin at 3 p.m. and continue serving until gone.

In addition to dinner there will be a basket raffle, a sale of baked goods and much more. Sugar Grove resident Tricia Donnell has been homebound since August 2015 and has endured six back and hip surgeries during that time. All proceeds from the benefit will help with these medical expenses.

CVVC Spaghetti Dinner

The Chandlers Valley Community Center will be holding a spaghetti sinner on Tuesday, April 19 from 5 and 7 p.m. all proceeds will go to benefit the Community Center. All in the community are invited to attend.

Food Pantry Service

in Sugar Grove

It has been six years since the Second Harvest Program contacted the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church to ask if they wanted to participate in the then-newly created program to assist with feeding hungry families in the local area. The local church took on this role and served approximately 20 families that first month back in April 2010. The totals are in for the 2015 year and from January December 2015 the local Sugar Grove food pantry served 1,943 different families a total of 145,363 pounds of donated food.

The monthly Saturday morning delivery will take place this Saturday, April 16 starting at 8 a.m. It takes 50 or more volunteers to function properly. The offload, package foods, push carts to cars, sign up clients, serve breakfast, and more. Remember the doors will not open until approximately 7 a.m. for the 8 a.m. delivery

Motorcycle Show

and Swap Meet

There will be a Motorcycle Show and Swap Meet at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church gymnasium located at 210 Jamestown St. in Sugar Grove next Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be vendors, music, food, drinks and lots of cycling information. The cost is $5 at the door which will go to benefit the Soldiers and Sailors. If you would like a vendor space or cycle space, contact 814-706-6487 or 489-7433. Vendor spaces are $25 payable at the door.

Live In Concert

The Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church will present three bands live in concert in its gymnasium on Saturday, April 2.

Still Waiting, The Flock, and Hostage of Humanity will all be playing. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $5. This will also be a release party for the first CD available from our local Sugar Grove band, The Flock. Supplies are limited. Come on out early and get a seat for this Christian Rock event.
