Bridge results

Results of Monday night duplicate bridge held at YMCA were:

1st-Connie Michell and Joann Hultquist with 21;

2nd-Rita Mancuso and Tana Fegley with 20.5;

3rd-Marjorie Polito and Matt Oram with 19.5.

Garden Club to meet

Warren Garden Club will meet Thursday, March 15, at 1 p.m. (not noon) at Meyer Hall at St. Joseph Church on Pennsylvania Avenue for its annual Spring Salad Luncheon. Bring a salad to share. The Hospitality Committee will provide desserts. The theme this year is “Bring a Friend,” so if possible, bring a friend.’

Sunshine Week

The Warren County League of Women Voters’ 2018 Sunshine Week schedule includes the following schedule on Monday March 12:

3:30pm – Meet in Warren City Building (Municipal Building on 3rd Avenue in downtown) in the front lobby for a tour of the building.

4:30pm – We will end the tour in Council Chambers and will have a Meet & Greet with the following Speakers & Guests

Introductions of Chief of Police Brandon Deppen, City Manager Nancy Freenock, Warren Mayor Maurice Cashman, FOI (Freedom of Information) Officer Teena Leary, City Council Member Gregory Fraser.

Approx. 4:45pm – Tina Leary will speak on the FOI Records & Protocols

Approx. 5pm – Brandon Deppen will speak on Law/Arrest Exemptions

Approx. 5:15pm – Maurice Cashman & Gregory Fraser will speak on Personnel & Real Estate Matters & why they are exempt from Sunshine Law.

We should be finished with our event by 5:30 or shortly after.

LWV Members & their guests are encouraged to attend. This will also be open to the public.

Spring rummage sale

The Russell Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary is holdings its annual spring rummage sale on Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28, at the fire hall.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 26, the Auxiliary will be accepting donations for the rummage sale, which will be held from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. there Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. On Saturday only, the cost is $1 per bag.

Lenten services

The Warren Area Ministerial Association will sponsor services each Thursday during Lent at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street in Warren. Following each service a soup and pie luncheon will be available for the donation of $5.

On Thursday, March 8, Jerome Kennedy from the Russell UM Church will bring the message, and Ed Irwin will be liturgist. Grace UM Church will provide the music, and the Emmanuel United Church of Christ will prepare the luncheon.

Hospice memorials

Hospice of Warren County received contributions during the month of February, enhancing the care we give to our patients, their families, and the community we serve.

Thin’KIN’ Spring Gala

The Thin’KIN’ Spring Gala, sponsored by the Rouse and Erie Bank, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Warren Woman’s Club. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There will be hors d’oeuvres, complimentary drinks, and music by the Porcelian Bus Drivers. There will also be a variety of raffle baskets, and a 50/50 drawing.

Proceeds benefit the Kids In Need (KIN) Fund to assist children in the Warren County School District.

The Suites at Rouse, Warren County School District, and Nutrition, Inc. are helped to organize this event.
