MS meeting cancelled

The Warren Multiple Sclerosis Support group meeting scheduled for Wednesday Oct. 4, at 6 p.m. at the Warren Public Library has been cancelled. Regular meetings will resume next month. Light refreshments will be available but everyone is asked to bring their own beverage of choice if they choose.

Quilters

The Quilters Night Out Quilt Guild Meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 306 Conewango Avenue. There will be a program on Crazy Quilts. New members are welcome.

Class lunch

The Warren High School Class of 1953 will meet for lunch and a meeting at noon Thursday, Oct. 5, at Perkins. All members of the class are invited to attend to discuss a 65th reunion in 2018.

ReStore donations

Habitat for Humanity of Warren County’s ReStore is operating from the basement of Warren Antiques & Gifts, located at 306 Second Avenue in Warren. The space is open to sell items during the store’s normal business hours. Habitat will accept donations there on the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. The next dropoff dates are October 14 and 28. Do not leave items outside of those hours. Habitat reserves the right to deny any item based on its potential resale value and/or usefulness to the organization. Questions should be directed to info@habitatwarrenpa.org.

Outdoor Club

On Sunday, Oct. 8, the Allegheny Outdoor Club (AOC) will ride bikes in Oil Creek State Park. Participants will meet at Betts Field at 1 p.m. or at the Petroleum Center Trailhead at 2 p.m. For more information call Linda or Earl Ross at (814) 726-3920. Warren County Special Olympics

Warren County Special Olympics is bowling at Riverside Lanes from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays starting September 23 until October 28.

Warren County Special Olympics is starting a new sport in October. They are roller skating at Russell Roller Rink on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7 p.m. starting Oct. 3 through Dec. 5. There is no roller skating on Oct. 31. The Warrin’ Wrecking Dolls are supporting this program.

Warren County Special Olympics always needs more volunteers. Consider volunteering in one of our many sports programs in 2017 and meet a great group of people. Time spent helping Special Olympics counts toward community service hours for your school, church or scouting project. To register as a volunteer go to www.specialolympicspa.org and complete an application as a class “A” volunteer.

Art League

Warren Art League members and their guests will carpool from the First Lutheran Church parking lot, W. Third and Market Sts., Thursday, October 5, at 4:15 p.m., to the Lakewood Library, downtown Lakewood, N.Y. The opening artists’ reception, held from 5-7 p.m., will be hosted by members Diane DeLarme and Kristina Faulkner. Titled “A Journey and Venus Vessels,” DeLarme will show her paintings and collages, and Faulkner will be exhibiting her pottery. Their two-woman exhibit will run through the month of October.

Refreshments will be served. There will be no business meeting that night at the church, just the reception outing to the Lakewood Library.

Stamps in your attic

The 21st annual Stamps and Postcard Show of the Olean (N.Y.) Area Stamp Club will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 6 Leo Moss Dr., Olean, N.Y. The church is located just off Exit 25 on I-86. Turn right on the first street after the underpass.

Dealers from Maryland, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania will offer free appraisals, as well as buying and selling.

An exhibit of Bradford postal cards and postal history will also be on display.

Vets rep

A Department Service Officer from The American Legion will will be at Rep. Kathy Rapp’s office at 404 Market St., Warren, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, to answer questions regarding VA and state benefits.

No appointment is necessary. Simply bring proof of veran status.

Polka Sunday

The Slovenian Polka Boosters will be dancing from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at Maples Inn in Crosby, with Caulker & Peters, of Cleveland, Ohio, performing. There will be music for all types of dancing, and the public is invited.
