Hospice memorials

Hospice of Warren County, a non-profit affiliate of Warren General Hospital received contributions during the month of July, enhancing the care we give to our patients, their families, and the community we serve.

Donations were received in memory of Dolores Anderson, Robert Billman, Sandy Brian, Howard Buchanan, Phyllis Chitester, Eleanor “Ellie” Dyke, John R. Gustafson, Bruce Highhouse, Donald Hopkins, Robert L. Johnson, James Knepp, JoAnn Lauffenburger, Brenton McKown, Lloyd J. Paul, Margaret B. Peterson, Donald Quiggle, Sherilyn J. Sherry, Neil Siefert, Francis “Butch” Struble, James A. Tuley, Dale L. Witherell.

Donations were also made in honor of Jeffery Hopkins and Hospice of Warren County nurses, staff and volunteers.

Donations support a comprehensive Hospice Program, including the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Residence, Palliative Care Service, and extensive Bereavement Services.

Class lunch

The Warren Area High School Class of 1964 will meet at noon on Monday, Aug. 21, at Blueberry Golf Club.

Polka Sunday

The Slovenian Polka Boosters will dance from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, at Eagles at Ridgway, with the Skovenski Band, of Avonmore, performing. There will be music for all types of dancing, and the public is invited.

1st–Elizabeth Howe and Carolyn Lake with 66.5;

Tied for 2nd–Connie Michell and Joan Hultquist tied with Mary Conarro and Matt Oram with 61.


1st–Sally Steele and Dorothy Boekeloo with 58.92;

2nd–Laurie Curren and Betsy Senger with 57.75;

3rd–Karen Cassin and Richard Woodruff with 56.58.

YMCA’s Firefly program

The YMCA’s Firefly program, a fitness and activity class for adults with intellectual limitations, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon or 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays from Sept. 11 to Nov. 29. The program is free, but pre-registration at the YMCA is required.


The YMCA’s LIVESTRONG morning session will start Tuesday, Sept. 5, and end November 30. It is from 10:30 a.m. to noon. This is a free program for cancer survivors. Call Chris to register at 726-0110.

Halls of Ivy

Mariah Alyssa Allen was inducted into the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania’s chapter of the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success this past April.

Sigma Alpha Pi is the largest collegiate leadership honor society in the United States.

Mariah is the daughter of Duane and Robin Anderson. She will be a sophomore at Edinboro University this fall, majoring in Early Childhood Education and Special Education.
