WGH Gala event

October 7, 2017 is the date for the Auxiliary’s “Dance the Night Away at the CLUB” Gala to be held at the Conewango Club in downtown Warren. Music will be provided by The Jays. The evening will start at 6:00 with a buffet dinner at 6:30 and dancing to begin at 7:00. Be sure to mark October 7th on your calendar to enjoy a great evening of dancing and dining with friends while supporting a great cause! Tickets for the Benefit will be available on September 15, 2017 at Crone’s Drug Store and the WGH Window Box Gift Shop. All proceeds stay in the community to benefit Auxiliary programs and projects.

Movie night at the Library

Monday Night Movies at the Warren Public Library will continue on August 14th. This event is free of charge and begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Slater Room on the third floor of the library. Complimentary popcorn will be available. This week’s PG-13 rated 136 minute film stars Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson. On the heels of 2015’s Furious 7, one of the fastest movies to reach $1 billion worldwide in box-office history and the sixth-biggest global title of all time, comes the newest chapter in one of the most popular and enduring motion-picture serials of all time. Call the library at 723-4650 for the exact title of this and other movies in this series as the library’s movie license does not permit listing the titles of movies outside the library.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Disease meeting

The August committee meeting for the 2017 Warren Area Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tues., August 15, at the community room of Northwest Savings on Second Ave., Warren. A light lunch will be provided. Prospective teams and individual walkers may sign up at this meeting and fundraising tips will be offered. Sponsors, former committee members, team captains, volunteers, and any other interested persons are invited to attend. The Walk is set for Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Betts Park. Food certification course set

Preventing foodborne illness in a food establishment is the focus of the ServSafe Training Course to be presented by the Penn State Extension on Thursdays, September 7 & 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Penn State Extension Office in Youngsville, PA. The ServSafe exam will be given on September 14 at noon. The registration fee is $185 per person. Those who pass the exam at the end of the training receive a certificate from the National Restaurant Association and meet the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for food safety training. ServSafe certification is valid for five years.
