16 sentenced in Warren County Court

Sixteen more defendants were sentenced on Friday before Judge Maureen Skerda. They included:

¯ Jeremy L. Anderson, 35, of Sheffield, on two dockets, for possession of drug paraphernalia and theft by unlawful taking. Anderson was sentenced to a total aggregate sentence of 51 to 114 months in a state correctional institution with boot camp eligibility. He was ordered to submit a sample of his DNA to the state repository and pay the statutory $250 fee thereof, and to pay a $3,100 fine, court costs, and $900 in fees.

¯ Kimberly Ashdown, 45, of Randolph, N.Y., for defiant trespass and retail theft, Ashdown was sentenced to a total of 3 years probation, to attend the cognitive education program, to have no contact with her victim, and to complete a total of 130 hours of community service. She was ordered to pay a $600 fine, court costs, and $275 in fees.

¯ Victor M. Battko, 29, of Youngsville, for endangering the welfare of children. Battko was sentenced to up to 30 days in the Warren County Jail with work release and early reentry eligibility with the remainder of his 12 month sentence to be spent on general supervision with drug patch and GPS monitoring, followed by 48 months probation. He was ordered to undergo a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluation and follow through on any recommendations thereof, to attend the cognitive education program, and to complete 200 hours of community service. Battko was ordered to pay a $700 fine, court costs, and $150 in fees.

¯ Aaron R. Benson, 42, of Warren, for reckless endangerment. Benson was sentenced to six months to two years less one day in the Warren County Jail with work release and early reentry eligibility and priority for any mental health programming available during his incarceration. He was ordered to attend the cognitive education program and to complete 100 hours of community service. Benson was ordered to pay a $500 fine, court costs, and $275 in fees.

¯ David N. Curry, 51, of Warren, for criminal conspiracy to receive stolen property. Curry was sentenced to 11 to 23 months in the Warren County Jail with credit for 31 days served and work release and early reentry eligibility. Curry was ordered to undergo the cognitive education program, to have no contact with his victim, to complete 100 hours of community service, and to pay restitution in the amount of $2,280.32. Curry was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, court costs, and fees of $275.

¯ Janet M. Demore, 59, of Pittsfield, for DUI and careless driving. Demore was sentenced to five days in the Warren County Jail followed by six months on general supervision. She was ordered to attend the Alcohol Highway Safety School and the Victim Impact Panel and to pay the costs thereof, and to attend the DUI Intervention Program, to have her license suspended for a period of 12 months, and to complete 30 hours of community service. Demore was ordered to pay a $300 fine, court costs, and fees of $570.

¯ Chrie K. Denning, 37, of Youngsville, for DUI and driving with a suspended license. Denning was sentenced to a period of up to 90 days in the Warren County Jail with credit for 31 days time served and work release and early reentry eligibility, with the remainder of her 12 month sentence to be carried out under house arrest with SCRAM monitoring and admission to Warren County’s Treatment Court following the restrictive portion of her sentence. She was ordered to have her license suspended for a period of two years and six months, to attend the Alcohol Highway Safety School and the Victim Impact Panel, and to pay the costs thereof. Denning was ordered to pay a $3,500 fine, court costs, fees of $895.

¯ John M. Griffin, 40, of Warren, for possession of a small amount of marijuana, unsigned registration, driving with a suspended license, and restraint systems. Griffin was ordered to have his license suspended for a period of two years and to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation. Griffin was ordered to pay fines of $735, court costs, and fees of $660.

¯ Kevin C. Hamm, 51, of Warren, for DUI, driving without insurance, and careless driving. Hamm was sentenced to 72 hours in the Warren County Jail followed by six months under general supervision. He was ordered to attend the DUI Intervention Program, the Alcohol Highway Safety School, and the Victim Impact Panel and to pay the costs thereof. He was ordered to have his license suspended for a period of 15 months, to have his registration suspended for a period of 90 days, and to complete 15 hours of community service. He was ordered to pay fines of $1,050, court costs, and $840 in fees.

¯ Jeremy L. Mack, 24, of Tidioute, for DUI and careless driving. Mack was sentenced to six months probation. He was ordered to attend the Alcohol Highway Safety School and the Victim Impact Panel and to pay the costs thereof, and to complete 15 hours of community service. Mack was ordered to pay a $25 fine, court costs, and fees of $895.

¯ Mark R. Matuizek, 50, of Tarentum, Pa., for fraud in obtaining food stamps. Matuizek was sentenced to one year of probation. He was ordered to complete 40 hours of community service and to pay restitution to the Pennsylvania Office of Inspector General in the amount of $3,009.32. He was ordered to pay a fine of $750, court costs, and fees of $275.

¯ Jeffrey L. Middleton, 18, or Corry, for theft by unlawful taking. Middleton was sentenced to an aggregate sentence of six to 23 1/2 months in the Warren County Jail with credit for 11 days time served and work release and early reentry eligibility, followed by three years probation. He was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service, to have no contact with his victim, to compete a mental health and a drug and alcohol evaluation, and to comply with all treatment recommendations thereof, and to submit a sample of his DNA to the state repository and pay the $250 statutory fee thereof. Middleton was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,691.48, fines of $1,390, court costs, and fees of $450.

¯ Scott D. Nichols, 46, of Warren, for DUI, failure to stop at a red light, and careless driving. Nichols was sentenced to a minimum of 30 days in the Warren County Jail with the remainder of his six month intermediate sentence to be served under general supervision with work release and early reentry eligibility. He was ordered to complete 45 hours of community service, have his license suspended for a period of 12 months, and to attend the Alcohol Highway Safety School and the Victim Impact Panel and pay the costs thereof. Nichols was ordered to pay fines of $800, court costs, and fees of $865.

¯ Juan C. Ortiz, 26, of Jamestown, N.Y., for retail theft on two separate dockets. Ortiz was sentenced to eight to 16 months incarceration in the Warren County Jail with credit for $182 days time served with work release and early reentry eligibility followed by four years probation. He was ordered to complete 180 hours of community service, to submit a sample of his DNA to the state repository, and to pay the $250 statutory fee thereof, and to attend the cognitive education program. Ortiz was ordered to pay restitution to his victim in the total amount of $975.64, fines of $1,500, court costs, and fees of $750.

¯Trisha M. Strait, 28, of Spartansburg, for possession of a controlled substance. Strait was sentenced to one month to one year incarceration in the Warren County Jail with credit for 14 days time served, work release, and early reentry eligibility followed by six months probation. She was ordered to successfully complete a comprehensive medically managed drug treatment program., to attend the cognitive education program, to complete 100 hours of community service, and to have her license suspended for a period of 18 months. She was ordered to pay fines of $500, court costs, and fees of $300.

¯ Brett A. Whitling, 44, of Russell, for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Whitling was sentenced to two years probation. He was ordered to attend the cognitive education program, to complete 150 hours of community service, to have his license suspended for a period of 12 months, and to undergo a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all treatment recommendations thereof. He was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, court costs, and fees of $525.
