DUI Crash. According to Pennsylvania state police, Bruce Edwin Smith, 55, of Shippenville, was traveling north on Davey Hill Road in Deerfield Township on March 2 between 10 and 10:30 a.m. and was unable to stop before hitting a downed tree in the road. No airbags were deployed and it is unknown whether Smith was wearing a seatbelt, police said. He was transported to Hamot Medical Center via helicopter for advanced medical treatment and later released. A search warrant was obtained for medical records and BAC, and Smith was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol. Smith was charged with DUI, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and several summary traffic citations, police said. Police were assisted by Tidioute VFD. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
DWI. According to the Jamestown, N.Y. Police Department, Kellen P. Taydus, 35, of Youngsville, was stopped in a white Cadillac on Washington Street and West Third Street in Jamestown for an improper left turn on March 30 at around 2:48 a.m. After investigating, police found that Taydus was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Upon taking Taydus into custody, police said officers found cocaine on his person, at which point he was transported to Jamestown City Jail. Taydus is charged with DWI, improper left turn, illegal tint, unregistered motor vehicle, failing to take a breath test, and possession of a controlled substance.
