Monthly evening meeting in 2020
The Warren County Commissioners will hold monthly evening meetings in 2020.
Commissioner Ben Kafferlin said that he heard a desire in town hall meetings for an “occasional evening meeting” that would allow “the public that works during the day to have the option of coming.”
Currently, the commissioners hold formal public meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays at noon.
That first meeting would remain at noon but the commissioners agreed to move the second meeting of the month to 5:30 p.m. Both meetings would continue to take place at the Jackson Courtroom at the Warren County Courthouse.
“I think that’s a good idea,” Commissioner Jeff Eggleston said, noting that they plan town hall meetings and participate in Council of Governments meetings and township meeting and speculated whether there’s “ever in a long time been a group of commissioners” that spend time at public meetings.
The commissioners largely held the line on the remaining meetings for next year.
Salary board will remain after the first commissioner’s of the month when needed and the retirement board will meet quarterly also after the first meeting of the month.
The commissioner elected to move prison board back from the fourth Tuesday every other month to the third Tuesday. Commissioner Ben Kafferlin noted the fourth Thursday arrangement would conflict with Thanksgiving and Christmas.
