4-H members place at District VIII Horse Show, attempt to qualify for state show

Warren County 4-H members represented the county at the District VIII 4-H Horse Show on September 6 and 7 in Centre Hall. Members had a chance to qualify for the state show set to be held October 25 to 27 at the State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. The district show offers 4-H members an opportunity to put their numerous hours of practice and caring for their animals to the test against members from any of the eight counties that make up District VIII.

The following members placed in their classes:

Emily Allison of Kennedy, N.Y. — 1st in Western Pleasure Horse Sr, 1st in Western Grooming & Showmanship Sr and 2nd in Western Horsemanship Sr,

Arlene Boisvert of Youngsville — 1st in Western Horsmanship Jr.

Melissa Burton of Kane — 1st in Open Trail Horses, Jr, 2nd in Western Horsemanship Int. and 6th in Western Grooming and Showmanship, Int.

Alexis Christensen of Sugar Grove — 1st in English Grooming and Showmanship, Int., 1st in Beginner English Equitation and 5th in Beginner English Pleasure.

Allison Conti of Kennedy, N.Y. — 1st in Western Grooming and Showmanship Jr., 2nd in Beginner Western Pleasure, and 2nd in Beginner Western Horsemanship.

Katie Downs of Bear Lake — 1st in Ranch Horse Pleasure, 3rd in Western Horsemanship Int, 5th in Open Trail Ponies, and 6th in Novice Reining.

Salenah Drake of Grand Valley — 4th in Mini Horse In Hand Trail Jr. with her mini, Curly Misty. Salenah als0 placed 5th in Barrel Race Ponies with her pony JoJo.

Audrey Ferrie of Warren — 1st in Western Horsemanship Sr, 2nd in Open Trail Horse 14-18, 2nd in Western Grooming & Showmanship Sr., and 3rd in Western Pleasure Horse Sr.

Marissa Gourley of Sugar Grove — 1st in Western Pleasure Jr., 3rd in Western Horsemanship Jr., and 3rd in Western Grooming and Showmanship Jr.

Thayne Gourley of Sugar Grove — 6th in Beginner Western Pleasure.

Hailey Graham of Warren — 1st in Beginner Trail and 6th in Beginner English Pleasure.

Samantha Hulings of Kane — 2nd in Raised Box Keyhole Horses, Sr.

Bryceton Maille of Pittsfield — 1st in Cutback Horse Sr, and 5th in Barrel Race Horses Sr.

Emelyn Moore of Youngsville — 2nd in English Grooming and Showmanship Jr, 2nd in Beginner English Equitation, and 3rd in Beginner English Pleasure.

Ava Nyweide of Panama, N.Y. — 1st in Mini Horse Driving, Jr.

Samantha Nyweide of Panama, N.Y. — 1st in Open Trail Horses, Sr., 2nd in Western Pleasure Horses, Sr. and 3rd in Western Grooming and Showmanship Sr with her horse A Minor Leaguer. She also placed 3rd in Miniature Horse Jumping, 3rd in Miniature Horse In Hand Trail, Sr, and 3rd in Miniature Horse Driving, Sr with her mini Cooper.

Shelby Ordiway of Sheffield — 4th in Barrel Race Horse, Sr., 4th in Cutback Horses, Sr., 4th in Pole Bending Horses, Sr., and 5th in Raised Box Keyhole Horses, Sr.

Rachael Richards of Sugar Grove — 1st in English Grooming and Showmanship Int, 1st in Hunt Seat Equitation on the flat Sr and 1st in Breed Type Hunter Under Saddle Sr.

Sandra Richards of Sugar Grove — 2nd in English Grooming and Showmanship Sr., 3rd in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat Sr, 4th in Breed Type Hunter Under Saddle Horse Sr, and 4th in Open Trail Horse, Sr.

Maria Slack of Warren –3rd in Ranch Horse Pleasure and 4th in Working Western Horse

Hialeah Stanton of Russell — 3rd in Mini Horse Driving her mini Smokey. She placed 3rd in Western Grooming and Showmanship Jr, and 2nd in Cutback Ponies Jr, 2nd in Raised Box Keyhole Ponies, Jr., and 3rd in Barrel Race Ponies, Jr. with her horse Stormy’s Double Reed.

Kassidy Turner of Pittsfield — 3rd in Pole Bending Horses Sr, 3rd in Raised Box Keyhole Horse Sr, 4th in Western Grooming and Showmanship, Sr. and 6th in Barrel Race Horses Sr.

Kaitlyn Van Ord of Frewsburg, N.Y. — 5th in Pole Bending Ponies, Sr, 5th in Raised Box Keyhole Ponies, Sr, and 6th in Cutback Ponies, Sr.

Maya Weis of Columbus — 1st in Walk Trot Equitation, Min. and 5th in Obstacle Trail, Min.

Kierra Wismar of Russell — 1st in Low Equitation over fences, Jr., 2nd in Hunter Hack Ponies, 4th in Low Working Hunter Ponies and 4th in Hunter Under Saddle Ponies.
