Photo submitted to Times Observer On October 31, The Nutrition Group helped TCCS students celebrate Johnny Appleseed. TCCS students in grades K4 through 8th grade made homemade apple cider and each student planted an apple tree to take home. The students listened to a story about Johnny Appleseed and answered trivia questions. Dennis Johnson, Patricia Johnson and Larry Anderson came in to help cut apples, run the apple press and help plant apple trees. The apple press was handmade by Dennis Johnson. Fifth-graders pictured, in no particular order, with Johnson, at right, include Taylor Blystone, Sicily Moyer, Chloe Knobloch, Sophia Bereksazi, Jana Hamm, BrodieySmith, and Gus Heenan.

Marine Corp League birthday

The 243rd birthday of the United States Marine Corp will be celebrated at the Marine Corp League home, 2355 Jackson Ave., Warren, at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Marines and guests are invited.

Bridge results

Tuesday afternoon at the Allegheny Community Center, Bill Massa placed first with Audrey Cable in second. At the Woman’s Club Thursday afternoon, Connie Michell and Nan Cashman were first and second. Rita Mancuso came in first Thursday evening at the library and Connie Lucia was second.

Philomel meeting

The November meeting for the Philomel Club will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. This month’s meeting will be held at the First Lutheran Church. Scheduled performers include Christine Kuntz, Jack Hemink, Denise Pearson and Carolyn Worley. All are welcome.

Movie Night

North Warren Presbyterian Church will host a free family movie night at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. The movie will be Incredibles 2 and the community is invited. Refreshments will be served. The church is located at 200 S. State St. in North Warren and the phone number is 723-5060 for further information. They also have a website at www.nwpchurch.org as well as a Facebook page. All are welcome to this community event.

Quilters Night Out

The Quilters Night Out Quilt Guild meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 306 Conewango Avenue, Warren. The program will review the rules and regulations on entering items in the Warren County Fair.

PARSE meeting

The Barton-Schuler chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Workers will meet this Thursday, November 8th at 11 AM at the Variety Buffet in the Warren Commons in North Warren. Election of chapter officers will take place with changes taking place. Support our chapter by attending meetings and networking with fellow members. Bring along a member to incite interest in PARSE meetings and happenings.

The annual Christmas party for PARSE will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 13 at Variety Buffet.

Christian Women luncheon

The November “Remembering our Veterans” luncheon of Village Missions Country Partners Warren Christian Women will be held at the Allegheny Community Center from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13. The featured guest is Sandra Droney of Sheffield showing her handmade crafts. Spiritual guest will be the Rev. Dorothy Hilliard of Faith Fellowship Church of God, Warren. Musical guest will be Richard Geer of Warren.

A fee of $9 covers lunch, the program, and speaker. Bring a pair of socks for our veterans for overseas Christmas packages.
