The Wilder Museum of Warren County History, 51 Erie Avenue, Irvine, has undergone some major changes this season, and your last chance to see all the museum has to offer before it closes for the winter is from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. Open on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, from 1 to 5 p.m. mid-May to early October every year, the Wilder Museum is home to 15 exhibit rooms and thousands of artifacts relating to Warren County history.

New to the museum in 2018 is the Warren County Furniture Exhibit Room, which holds furniture manufactured in Warren County. The room features such artifacts as a bedroom set made by Warren’s Crescent Furniture Manufacturing Company, a rocking chair from the Grandin family, a desk built by a Tidioute family, and an antique rope bed. The exhibit also houses woodworking tools that were used by Phenix Furniture Company employee Harry Hedges as well as an antique toys collection.

The Military Wing also underwent major improvements, particularly the World War II Room that received a fresh coat of paint, new artifacts, the inauguration of the Wall of Honor, a captured Nazi flag, weapons, and military uniforms from the war.

The Wilder Museum also maintains exhibits on the railroad, the Seneca Nation, the Irvine-Newbold Estate, oil, lumber, agriculture, communications, medicine, antique guns, the National Forge, and a gift shop filled with unique items ranging from art to books, maps, and original Star Bricks.

Admission to the Wilder Museum is $5 per person or $1 per student. Members are admitted free of charge. For more information, visit www.warrenhistory.org, call (814) 723-1795, or find Wilder Museum on Facebook.
