Hill & Dale Garden Club meets

The August 22 meeting of the Hill & Dale Garden Club was held at the Audubon. 23 members and 10 guests were in attendance. President Ruth Ann DeVore welcomed members and members of the Warren Garden Club (10 members).

Ruth Ann led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Muriel Redick gave the devotions. Lunch was provided by Lynda Slocum with desserts by Debbie Woodin and her committee.

Ruth Ann passed around a sign-up sheet to clean the garden in the Sugar Grove Park and the Miles Marker. They are very much in need of weeding and trimming. Ruth Ann also provided some history on Robert Miles. The borough has approved signs with information and directions to the Miles Marker. The township is also being sent a letter for help. Members were asked to remember Betty Lindell on the birthday and Marilyn Spear.

Ruth Ann will have an officer and director meeting at 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at her house to discuss next year’s programs. She also reminded everyone that the Rouse Garden Therapy is at 2 p.m. Sept. 10; bring flowers and foliage.

Peg Stino reported on the fair exhibit, which placed second this year.

Warren’s Garden Club president thanked the club for the invitation to the luncheon and program. She also talked about the Warren club’s schedule and programs.

Katie Finch from the Audubon gave a program on Monarch butterflies and their habitat. There were butterflies in a mesh container to view and also milkweed with eggs and chrysalis.
