Libraries Rock!

Libraries Rock! is the 2018 theme across the country for summer reading programs at numerous public libraries. The Warren Public Library is ready to rock with incentives for reading and a variety of programs.

Children of all ages are invited to register for the Libraries Rock reading component by stopping by the Children’s Department to register and they will receive a folder with a reading log on which to keep track of books read over the summer. Younger children can participate as parents can write down books read to their little ones. Children can turn in their reading logs towards the end of July to receive prizes. Summer programs include weekly programs and special events.

Weekly programs such as Toddler Time, Reading Wednesday, Family Movie Mornings, and Build-It-Up start the week of June 11. Special events include Wacky Science Show, Miss Soprano Piano, Sun-Dance-Kids Farm Petting Zoo, Professor Klutzo’s Wonderful World of Music, and a Scholastic Book Fair.

In conjunction with the Summer Food Service Program, snacks will be served in the Children’s Department Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to children 18 years of age and younger.

There is also a Rock and Write writing contest for children ages five to 14 and a Libraries Rock Summer Activity Challenge.

Prizes for the writing contest and activity challenges are Tim Horton’s gift cards.

Details of the Libraries Rock summer reading offerings can be found at www.warrenlibrary.org under Children’s Events or contact Children’s Librarian Susan Slater at 723-4650.
