Photo submitted to Times Observer Sugar Grove American Legion Post 758 sponsored an essay contest for the students of Eisenhower Middle School. The title of the essay was ‘What Can Be Done to Build Respect for our State and Local Law Enforcement?’ Students from the 7th and 8th grades participated. Outdoor Club

Bridge results

Tuesday afternoon at the Allegheny Community Center, Bill Massa came in first and Patty Baker was second. At the Woman’s Club Thursday afternoon, Connie Lucia and Rita Mancuso were first and second. Connie Lucia placed first Thursday evening at the library and Connie Michell came in second.

ReStore donations

Habitat for Humanity of Warren County’s ReStore is operating from the basement of Warren Antiques & Giftware, located at 306 Second Avenue in Warren. The store is open for donations and purchases Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Donating large items such as appliances and furniture should be prearranged with Habitat for Humanity; other home improvement items may be donated during normal business hours. Cemetery meeting

The Chandlers Valley Cemetery on Brown Hill outside of Chandlers Valley will be holding meeting on Tuesday, June 5, at 7 p.m. at the Chandlers Valley Community Center. If you have family or own a lot, come to the meeting.

Polka Sunday

The Slovenian Polka Boosters will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at the Maple Inn on Rt. 46 in Crosby, with the Dick Tady DTO, of Harwick, performing. There will be music for all types of dancing and the public is invited.

Vets questions

A Department Service Officer from The American Legion will be at Rep. Kathy Rapp’s office, 404 Market St., Warren, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, to answer questions regarding VA and state benefits.
