Kinzua Knit-Away lineup for April 7
The Warren County Fiber Artists have announced its lineup of instructors at the Kinzua Knit-Away to be held April 7 at the First United Methodist Church at 200 Market Street in Warren.
Participants can take two classes of their choice and enjoy a Lunch Lecture by Linda Voss Plummer.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. Saturday. It is suggested that you register ahead of time to get the classes you want, but there will be the ability to register that day for classes that have not filled.
If a class does not have enough registrants by March 10 it could be cancelled and may not be available for registration at the door. It is best to pre-register by printing out the Registration Form from our website at kinzuaknitaway.com or pick up a Registration Form at the Warren Public Library.
The Kinzua Knit-Away kicks off Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with special guest speaker Cathy Briscoe speaking on Yarn Substitution.
On Saturday, the theme this year is “Fiber Arts Techniques,” with emphasis on the “how-to” so participants have experience with various skills that they may not have tried. The morning line up of classes from 9 a.m. to noon consist of eight choices; Garter Stitch Short Row Shaping by Barb Tracy which leads to a striking scarf; Needle Felting a Sleeping Fawn by Debby Penley; I-Cord and its Many Application by Pam Mahan; Mosaic Knitting by Taryn Barnett, Triangle Weaving by Lois Crozier which when finished is a beautiful shawl; Adding Depth and Texture to Your Knitting by Tracie Verdin who will teach participants six different stitches; Trellis & Ivy Beaded Scarf by Cathy Briscoe; and for those of you who have a dog that you would like to knit for Linda Voss Plummer will present the class Dress Your Dog for Warmth and Style.
For the afternoon, you have a choice of seven classes from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; Loise Crozier will offer a second session on Triangle Weaving; Beginning Knitting, What Comes Next will be offered by Cathy Briscoe; Knitting and Weaving with Handspun, by Linda Voss Plummer; Angie Tracey will give you some crochet practice for knitters with her class on Crochet for Knitters and Beginners with a TWIST; for you spinners Katrina Updike is offering a class on Making your own Art Batt to Spin or Knit; Debbie Penley will offer a class on Needle Felting a Fox; and Taryn Barnett will offer a class on Techniques that Amaze.
All fiber artists who have a stash of yarn you are not sure what to do with, you won’t want to miss this special session with Linda Voss Plummer who will be presenting a program on Designing Stash from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.
All preregistered students will receive tickets for door prizes from the vendors in their registration packet. The winners will be announced between 1:45 and 2:15 p.m. The grand prize for both registered and walk-in participants will be drawn at 4:45 p.m. in the Vendor Marketplace.
This door prize is made available through the Warren County Fiber Artists and is valued at over $100 in fiber art related items. Walk-ins are welcome to visit the Vendor Marketplace on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for an entrance fee of only $3. For more details, visit kinzuaknitaway.com.
