Warren Garden Club holds holiday celebration

President Suzanne Barone welcomed members of Warren Garden Club to the annual holiday celebration at St. Joseph Catholic Church. President Barone welcomed special guest and District VIII Director Tom Huston.

President Barone thanked committee and ad hoc committee chairman for their time and efforts on behalf of garden club. Each chairman was presented with a beautiful holiday wind chime. Garden Club Executive Officers for 2018-2019 President Patricia Christy, Vice President Priscilla Breese, Corresponding Secretary Dottie Higgins and Treasurer Lucy Masterson were installed by District VIII Tom Huston who made the installation special with descriptions of the duties of the new officers.

President Barone was presented with a parting gift as outgoing president and her past presidents pin. Barone was thanked by members for her dedication to Warren Garden Club and her organized and well planned presidency made the last two years very successful. Holiday entertainment was presented by the Conewango Clippers Barber Shop Quartet, who entertained with a selection of familiar holiday songs to which club members enjoyed singing along. After the program the Clippers were invited for lunch.

The delicious holiday lunch was planned and prepared by Sharon Hecei and Chef Ryan Hecei. The holiday inspired menu was artistically displayed by committee members were Roberta Ward, Kathy Frank, Mary Mahood, Breese, Margaret Sleeman and Nancy Crawford. Congratulations to the committee for the delicious lunch, dragonfly favors and table decorations.

Handmade dragonflies, the theme for Garden Club 2017, were fashioned from cut crystal glass beads with tin punch wings. These beautiful holiday favors were given to each member who attended the meeting. Each table was decorated with dragonfly printed napkins and dried hydrangeas in lighted globes.

Warren Garden Club always welcomes new members. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month from March through December.

The next meeting will be our spring luncheon at noon March 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
