Holiday Heroes Blood Drive will be held this Wednesday

It’s time for the Holiday Heroes Blood Drive.

Community Blood Bank is continuing the event to help increase the blood supply through the holiday season.

“Holiday Heroes is a promotion to help increase the blood supply during the difficult period before Christmas through mid-January,” Regional Mobile Drive Coordinator Shari Jerman said. “While people often have a lot of seasonal commitments, the Community blood Bank sees fewer donors and that can quickly deplete a community’s blood supply.”

“The idea is to partner with area law enforcement, fire, first responders, and military to encourage their members as well as members of the surrounding community to donate blood,” Jerman said. “This is the fourth year of the campaign. We’ve partnered with more than 40 different organizations over the years and have seen hundreds more donors as a result of the efforts from our Holiday Heroes partners.”

The drive will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Holy Redeemer Center on Pennsylvania Avenue, Warren.

Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with a signed parental consent form), be feeling well and in good health, weight at least 110 pounds, and not have had any new piercings nor tattoos in the last 12 months.

Each donor will receive an LED flashlight and a chance to win a $500 gift card.
