Photo submitted to Times Observer Children and families had a spooktacular time at Cris Johnson’s Spooky Magic Show at the Warren Public Library on October 28. Cris has a great rapport with the children who stay engaged as they laugh, giggle and excitedly shout out responses to his questions and antics. Watch for future shows as the library plans on inviting Cris back for other performances next summer.

Warren County Special Olympics

Warren County Special Olympics started a new sport in October — roller skating at Russell Roller Rink on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7 p.m. through December 5. The Warrin’ Wrecking Dolls are supporting this program.

Basketball and Floor Hockey will be starting in January of 2018. Watch for a schedule of dates.

Special Olympics always needs more volunteers. Consider volunteering in one of our many sports programs in 2017 and meet a great group of people. Time spent helping Special Olympics counts toward community service hours for your school, church or scouting project. To register as a volunteer go to and complete an application as a class “A” volunteer.

For a complete schedule or any further information about volunteering for Special Olympics, contact the Warren County Special Olympics Volunteer Coordinator, Gregg Heinold, at 726-3218 or email at
