Briefly:

Photo submitted to Times Observer Jean Gomory, Watershed Specialist with the Warren County Conservation District, sets up the Four Season Trivia Quest, part of Chapman State Park’s Labor Day Weekend programs. Quest participants will follow Penny Run Trail and find nature-related trivia questions and answers along the way. Other programs include a Nature Scavenger Hunt on Saturday at 3 p.m.; a Chapel Service Sunday at 10 a.m.; Introduction to Geocaching, Sunday at 4 p.m.; and, on Monday, a Camouflage Walk (discovering hidden bugs and animals) at 11 a.m.; and Fish Cleaning for Beginners at 3 p.m. that day.

Humane Society closing

Paws Along The River Humane Society will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, in honor of Labor Day.

The Humane Society will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 12:30 p.m. for normal business hours.

Quilters Night Out

The Quilters Night Out Quilt Guild Meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 306 Conewango Avenue. A program on english paper piecing will be presented.

PennDOT has announced the following for schedule for next week: Bridge replacement on Rt. 958 in Freehold Twp.; bridge work on Rt. 69 in Farmington Twp.; patching on Grunderville Rd. in Pleasant Twp.; spray patching on Rt. 62 in Pleasant Twp.; edge paving on Rt. 62 in Pleasasnt Twp. and Rt. 957 in Columbus Twp.; spray patching on Rt. 62 in Pine Grove Twp. and Jackson Ave. in Conewango Twp.; mill and fill on Pennsylvania Avenue East in the City of Warren and crack sealing on Picadilly Hill in Columbus Twp.
