National Nursing Home Week Family Night unites residents, staff, volunteers and families at the Rouse
The Rouse Home recently hosted a family night on May 18 as part of National Nursing Home Week (NNHW), which ran from May 14-20. This year’s national observance’s theme, “The Spirit of America,” highlighted the bond among staff, volunteers, residents and families that capture the American spirit.
Family Night at the Rouse Home served to encourage acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion in the center, and recognize those who have helped residents enjoy a better quality of life.
“We are grateful that so many individuals in our community are coming together to celebrate the work we do,” said Reyd Martin, Rouse Home activity director. “This year, we are using the theme of this week to put a smile on our resident’s faces, and truly allow them to enjoy the festivities, which captures the unique spirit of the Rouse Home.”
Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967, NNHW provides an opportunity for residents and their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and surrounding communities to acknowledge the role of skilled nursing care centers.
