4-H announces scholarship recipients

Penn State Extension and Warren County 4-H proudly announce the 2017 scholarship recipients. Four scholarships of $1,000 each were available for 4-H members and volunteers pursuing post-secondary education through the 4-H Development Council Board. The 2017 recipients include Madison Hultman of Russell and Sabrina Long, Cody and Lindsey McMillen each of Sugar Grove.

Madison Hultman will be attending Gannon University in the fall of 2017 through their accelerated Pharmacy program. She is a current member of the Shamrock Sheep 4-H Club and the Warren County Teen Council. Madison will be a member of the Eisenhower High School graduating class this spring.

Sabrina Long will be pursuing a degree in Animal Science at Penn State Erie in the fall of 2017. As an active member with the 4-H Udder Club and Warren County Teen Council, she will continue her study of the animal science program in her goal of being a livestock nutritionist. Sabrina will also graduate this spring from Eisenhower High School.

Lindsey McMillen is enrolled with Jamestown Community College where she is pursuing an associate degree in criminal science. She is completing her final 4-H year as a member of the Shamrock Sheep 4-H Club.

Cody McMillen is currently a junior at the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford Campus where he is pursuing a degree in environmental studies with a minor in geology, biology, and environmental science. Cody was a ten year member of the Shamrock Sheep 4-H Club.

In addition to the 4-H Development Council Board Scholarships, the Wright Fund Scholarship is offered to 4-H members pursuing an education, human services, family living or consumer science degree. This scholarship has been established through donations received in honor of retired Penn State Extension Agent, Phyllis Wright.

The 2017 Wright Fund Scholarship recipient is Alexis Titch of Corry. Alexis is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education through Mercyhurst University. She was involved with the Sugar Grove Ruff Riders 4-H Horse Club.

The 4-H program is a youth development program of Penn State Extension.
