Sign up now for the AARP Smart Driver Full (8-hour) course being offered at the ACC on Tuesday & Wednesday, April 25 & 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days. If it’s been more than 3 years or if you’ve never taken the course, this course is for you! Many auto insurances give a discount to drivers who have successfully completed the Smart Driver course and have stayed current with it. You can check with your auto insurance agent for details. Cost of this course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members, payable to AARP, plus an additional $2 per person operating cost, payable to ACC. Just call 723-3237 to enroll in this helpful class.

Don’t forget to sign up for the Eldercare Spring Education Expo being held at ACC on Friday, May 5th from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There’s a great line-up of presenters for you to choose from but there’s a limited number of the 1st 150 sign-ups to be able to attend. Selection forms available at the ACC or online at www.alleghenycommunitycenter.com. Cost is $5 and includes lunch.

Do you have or do you take care of someone who has Diabetes? Take advantage of this FREE workshop brought to you by LifeWorks Erie and being offered at Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St. in Warren. Starting on May 5th and the following 5 Fridays (thru June 9) this informative program will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Please call 723-4180 or stop by the ACC receptionists’ office to sign up for this diabetes self-management program.

Remember to call ACC at 723-4180 by 11:00 a.m. 2 DAYS IN ADVANCE to make your noon lunch reservations. A monthly meal calendar can be picked up at the center and meals can be reserved well in advance, just not less than 2 days in advance. The suggested reserved-meal donation for all those 60 and over is $3. All meals are well balanced and planned to provide maximum nutritional benefits.

ACC is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ACC is closed on legal holidays and on those days when Warren County schools are closed unexpectedly due to bad weather.

The Warren-Forest Area Agency on Aging will serve the following lunch menu at various locations: Allegheny Community Center in Warren, 04/17 thru 04/21: Monday, meatball sandwich w/sauce & cheese, seasoned redskins, mixed bean medley, fresh fruit; Tuesday, roasted turkey w/gravy, mashed potatoes, peas & carrots, wheat bread, vanilla ice cream; Wednesday, chef salad w/ham, turkey, cheese & eggs, wedding soup w/crackers, breadstick, sliced pears; Thursday, baked chicken thigh, wild rice, Brussel sprouts, wheat bread, apricots; Friday, BBQ beef ribbette, sweet potato bites, mixed vegetables, cornbread, brownie: Marienville: Mon., Wed., & Thurs. meals from the ACC lunch schedule; Endeavor: Tues., Wed., & Friday meals from the ACC lunch schedule; Tidioute: Mon., Tuesday & Thurs. meals from the ACC lunch schedule; Sheffield: Mon., Thurs., & Fri. meals from the ACC lunch schedule.

Eligible participation is 60 years and older with a suggested meal donation of $3. Call AAA at 723-3763 for info about congregate meal sites or center locations. Menu is subject to change if necessary.
