Audubon hike March 20

What better way to welcome spring than with a hike on the beautiful grounds of the Audubon Community Nature Center. Audubon will provide the landscape and Senior Naturalist Sarah Hatfield will lead you through the woodlands on the first day of spring, Monday, March 20.

At this 3-to-4 p.m. Happy Hour Hike, you can explore Audubon’s trails to see what’s coming alive and then head to a local restaurant to enjoy some local brews.

While it may seem quiet, subtle signs of nature awakening are everywhere, even in the occasional snowstorm. From tree buds to emerging ephemerals, cross-trekking salamanders, or snow-melting plants, the world promises a cast of characters.

After the hike, bring a bit of cash to enjoy a (completely optional) follow-up beverage at Miller’s Grove (aka Shorty’s) with your fellow nature-nerds.

The trek will likely be between one and two miles. It will happen rain, snow, or shine, so remember to dress for the weather.

Fee is $8 per person. Members receive 25% discount at checkout.

Reservations are appreciated but not required. Call (716) 569-2345 during business hours or click through Plan Your Visit/Attend a Program at auduboncnc.org.

Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, New York, and Warren, Pennsylvania.

Audubon Community Nature Center builds and nurtures connections between people and nature by providing positive outdoor experiences, opportunities to learn about and understand the natural world, and knowledge to act in environmentally responsible ways.
