WCCBI brings back Eggs & Issues program

Eggs and Issues is back.

A number of years ago, according to Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry (WCCBI) Director of Operations and Tourism John Papalia, the chamber started the Eggs and Issues series to have a way for people to get together and learn about what’s going on in Warren County.

“The Eggs and Issues program fizzled out about five years ago,” said Papalia, mostly because turnout for the events was declining.

“At that time,” said Papalia, “the program was running on a monthly basis.”

Now, that WCCBI is trying to resurrect the program. The plan is to cut down to one Eggs and Issues every few months. That way, he said, topics can stay fresh.

Other than that change, Papalia said, not much will be different.

The program will consist of a breakfast buffet at the Conewango Club and a presentation by area agencies and organizations aimed at increasing public awareness of what opportunities and programs are going on. The program, said Papalia, is open to the public and the cost to attend is $15.

“Of course,” said Papalia, “all of our Chamber members will get invites,” but the public is encouraged to attend as well.

The first Eggs and Issues of this year was held on Friday, Feb. 17 and, according to Papalia, was a success. “We felt that after a number of years with the Eggs and Issues it was time to bring it back, just on more of a limited basis.”

Friday’s Eggs and Issues, said Papalia, “was to sort of test the waters and see what kind of response we would get before setting an entire schedule.”

As for turnout, Papalia said, “I was extremely pleased with the turnout for this event, and the YMCA did an amazing job” presenting an overview of its 150-year history in Warren.

“We have already received a great deal of positive feedback and have had people inquire about when we will hold another,” Papalia said Friday afternoon.

WCCBI is at work firming up future dates and speakers for the Eggs and Issues series, although “nothing is set in stone yet,” said Papalia.

Dates will be posted on the chamber’s website at wccbi.org and on the WCCBI Facebook page as they are decided on, he added. Papalia said he hopes to have dates and speakers begin to be set within the next week.
