Vets Emergency Fund donation

Dick Morgan (right), American Legion Post 758 of Sugar Grove Adjutant donates a check to Ed Burris (left), Director of Veteran’s Affairs for Warren County. The check will be used for the emergency fund. Money from the emergency fund, according to Burris, stays in Warren County and is distributed to county veterans and their families. In the past, Burris said, the emergency fund has helped vets and their families with things like small car repairs, groceries, and fuel oil, gas bills, or pellets when heating assistance is needed. Since January of this year, Burris said, almost $10,000 has been distributed from the emergency fund to county veterans. Said Burris, “we’re able to do this because of the generosity of the local service organizations and individuals, many of whom make monthly donations.”
