Until further notice

The Plaza restaurant will re-open despite Tuesday night’s kitchen fire

Times Observer photo by Stacey Gross After a small kitchen fire on Tuesday night, the Plaza will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.

The Plaza restaurant will reopen soon.

After a small fire broke out in the restaurant’s kitchen area shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, city firefighters arrived to find flames coming out of a vent on the roof of the building, as well as in the cooking area, according to Capt. Dave Krogler.

No injuries were sustained by staff, patrons, or emergency personnel, Krogler said on Tuesday while at the scene. In addition, there was no structural damage as a result of the fire.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal had been called as of Tuesday evening. Attempts to reach both the owner(s) of the restaurant and the fire marshal were unsuccessful as of press time Wednesday, although the restaurant’s Facebook page did run the following statement:

“Due to a small fire, we will be closed for business until further notice. Thankfully, no one was hurt and the fire was quickly put out — thanks to the quick response of the Warren Fire Department. We will keep you updated as soon as possible.”
