An Army at Ollie’s

Bargain outlet store attracts long lines on first day at mall

It’s time to enlist in Ollie’s Army.

The bargain department store is a “specialty retailer,” said District Team Leader John Ketter.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet opened its doors officially on Wednesday morning at just before 9 a.m. in the Warren Mall. The grand opening was scheduled for 9 a.m., but with customers already lined up at the door and the rain starting to come down, managers let the eager shoppers in a few minutes ahead of schedule.

The discount store offers a wide variety of closeout, name-brand merchandise, according to Ketter, at drastically reduced prices.

“Basically, you name it and we have it,” he said.

That’s been his favorite thing about working at the store, which has been in the process of opening in Warren for about a month.

Housewares, domestics, clothing, pet supplies, books, movies, electronics, and more can be found in the store, which is taking up residence where Label Shopper used to be in the mall. Merchandise is brand-name in most cases, said Ketter, and moves quickly.

“If you see something you like, you’d better pick it up,” he said.

Thanks to the constantly changing inventory, “You never know what you’re going to find.”

What you can be sure of, Ketter said, is that it’s going to be good.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is located at 4000 Market Street in the Warren Mall, next to the recently added Dunham’s Sporting Goods. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Shoppers can join the Ollie’s Army loyalty program to receive discounts throughout the year and emails with current sales flyers and unique deals. Those enrolled also earn one point for every dollar spent, and each accumulation of 250 points earns shoppers a 10 percent off reward certificate.
