Fatal crash in Freehold Township

A 57-year old male was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on Route 6 in Freehold Township on Sunday.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the known male, whose name and addressed were not released as of press time Sunday, was operating a 2014 Harley Davidson Motorcycle on Route 6 at approximately 3 p.m. when the accident occurred.

Police say the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Route 6 just west of Route 958 when into traveled into the westbound lane for unknown reasons. The motorcycle was then struck head-on by a 2000 Ford Motorhome operated by a known 73 year-old male.

After the initial point of impact, the motorcycle traveled approximately 150 feet before coming to final rest. The motorhome then drove across the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch.

The operator of the motorhome suffered minor injuries to his arms and was transported to Corry Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Wrightsville Volunteer Fire Department.

No charges relating to the crash have been filed.
